A digital painting. The artist reaches for perfection and is crippled by her efforts.
The painting metaphorically depicts my struggle for perfection while hindered by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Recurring traumatic stress and negative self-perceptions cripple me, yet it is these same experiences which inspire me to create powerful work.
June is PTSD Awareness Month. After traumatic events, many suffer painful memories and emotions. For some, these effects fade over time. But for others, the intrusive memories and feelings don't go away, even years after the event has passed. If stress reactions disrupt everyday life, it is important to seek help to determine if PTSD is present.
